Trainers: Dr. Mónica Rodríguez Delgado PhD, LPC, RPT™
This training will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 9:00am - 5:00pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, June 9, 2024 9:00am - 4:00pm
Child-centered play therapy is a play-based therapeutic intervention for young children who present with socio-emotional and behavioral concerns. Children use play as their natural medium for communication. Play therapists use the power of play to help children express their feelings through toys instead of words.
In CCPT (Child Centered Play Therapy), a play therapist provides a safe relationship and environment where children experience unconditional acceptance, understanding, and empathy which allows children to freely express their internal world. This nurturing relationship is the key factor for creating meaningful and long-term change. In this workshop, the facilitators will discuss: how children use play as a way to express their internal world; developmental theories related to children’s emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development; seminal and historic theories of play therapy; child-centered play therapy skills, protocol, and practice; cultural humility and anti-oppressive play therapy practices.
For RPT Credentialing, this training covers: 11 hours of Seminal or Historically Significant Theories, 5 hours of Skills & Methods, and 4 hours of Culture and Social Diversity.
This workshop meets APT’s definition of Contact In-person.
