Chicana - She/ her / Ella
Born and raised in San Antonio TX I identify as: Chicana, Mexican, indigenous, and as a disrupter of systems of oppression.
You deserve a nonjudgmental space where you can explore all parts of yourself, even the ones you have difficulty accepting.
I know that the better you know yourself, the more equipped you are to handle life stressors and transitions that come your way.
If you’re here, you know something needs to shift or change. Maybe you’ve been to therapy before and haven’t gotten what you were looking for (or worse, been hurt by it). You need someone who is willing to take the time to truly understand you: not to tell you “what” to do, but instead to partner with you on a journey of healing, justice, and wellness.
Maybe you feel powerless after a lifetime of navigating systems steeped in white supremacy or oppression and carrying the wounds of the generations before you. You’re noticing this show up in your work, your relationships, and your friendships, but you’ve never felt safe enough to voice these things (without just being told you’re “angry”). Perhaps life has changed in a big way recently and despite doing everything you “should” do to accept it and move on, it’s not working.
This is a place for you.
My approach to therapy is focused on autonomy: helping you discover the skills and abilities within yourself so that, eventually, you no longer need therapy. My job is to work myself out of a job, helping you feel empowered, confident, and connected in your life. I want to support you in unlocking and discovering your own gifts, learning to live them out in a way that aligns to your unique values, identity, and goals.
We don’t live life in a vacuum. As humans, we move through & towards connection in our relationships. By taking a look at how you connect in relationships, environments, and systems around you, we can find ways to foster & build connection not only with yourself, but with the larger communities to which you belong.
Living in a brown fem presenting body myself, I understand some of the challenges you may have faced as a member of intentionally marginalized, historically disenfranchised, or oppressed groups. If you’ve felt overwhelmed trying to create space for yourself in the ruptured systems of our society, I want to offer you somewhere you can share that burden and receive the culturally responsive, social justice-informed support you deserve.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy, Integration and Psychedelic Medicine
I am aware that in order to heal our historical and generation wounding, we need access to our ancestral healing abilities, while there are many ways to get there, I am aware that psychedelic medicines / plant medicine is one rout.
Ketamine is currently the only psychedelic legal for therapeutic use in Texas. Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) uses the psychedelic experience induced by ketamine to enhance the therapeutic process, allowing for deeper self-reflection and processing.
Tree of Life Counseling Center provides Ketamine assisted Therapy to clients working with our providers or who have an established provider in which is capable and comfortable with integration with you. Just as with all other services I believe in taking a collaborative approach to your care. We combine the skills of a physician, our psychotherapist, any your inner healing abilities as guides on your healing journey. The dose of ketamine used in your journey is a cooperative decision made between you, your therapist and medical provider.
Background & Experience
Born and raised in San Antonio TX I identify as: Chicana, Mexican, indigenous, and know that we can attain collective liberation. We rise together! With over 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, I obtained my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University and hold licenses in CO, TX, and FL. Beyond being an LPC-S, I am a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™, Level 2 Reiki practitioner, Service Animal Handler, Sand Tray Therapy Certification holder, Chicana/Chicano/Chicanx trained Clinician, Telemental health certified provider, trained in psychedelic assisted therapy, and completed somatic abolitionism training. This dedication to ongoing training and personal growth is essential at TLCC, as we strive to be good ancestors and catalysts for change.
Today, I serve as the Clinical Director of Tree of Life Counseling Center and the Founder and President of our nonprofit Root of It Foundation. I am passionate about psychedelic therapies, honoring ancestral healing, disrupting systems of oppression both internally and externally and offer experiential and integration sessions for Ketamine Assisted Therapy.
I am a member of a mental health rapid response team, supporting youth in Colorado through the IMatter program, and collaborating with community organizations to enhance access to care. My career has been dedicated to advocating for clients of all ages facing oppression, trauma, crisis situations, and intergenerational challenges. This involved collaboration with various providers and serving as a link between case workers, lawyers, CASA, and other agencies. These experiences have given me a distinct insight into the daily challenges our community and I encounter within these systems.
During my experience in various San Antonio treatment facilities, I discovered that healing does not happen in solitude. I kept this in mind when founding Tree of Life Counseling Center. To effectively carry out this work, it is essential to engage with the community and have a supportive team of individuals who understand the sacred nature of our mission.
At TLCC, we offer group and individual therapeutic services to adults, children, military members, and families. Additionally, we provide supervision to therapists in training, professional consultations, speaking engagements, and training sessions aimed at helping our collaborators achieve acceptance, insight, and ultimately, the collective liberation of our communities.
