Lest we forget: Stonewall was not a parade. It was an uprising.

Stonewall was not about marriage equality. It was about police violence—state-sanctioned brutality—against intentionally and historically marginalized identities. It was about trans folks, queers, Black and Brown bodies surviving at the margins. The ones this country disposes of and then criminalizes for surviving.

Lest we forget: Stonewall was not a parade. It wasn’t a party. It was an uprising.

A collective act of resistance.

A rupture.

A refusal to be erased.

A moment of saying: no more.

This wasn’t just about one night.

It was about generations of being surveilled, brutalized, and discarded.

It was rage.

It was sorrow.

It was power reclaiming itself.

“There was something in the air, freedom a long time overdue and we’re going to fight for it... we weren’t going to go away. And we didn’t.” — Michael Fader

We stand on the legacy of that rebellion. At Tree of Life Counseling Center and our sister nonprofit, Root of It Foundation, we believe mental health is a site of resistance and healing.

🧠 Mental health is not neutral.

🏳️‍🌈 Pride was born from people putting their bodies on the line so that future generations might live freer.

🏳️‍⚧️ Liberation is not optional—it’s essential to our survival.

Let the fire of Stonewall remind us: We are not passive recipients of care. We are fierce, beautiful architects of our own healing.

💥 We name our grief.

✊🏾 We honor our rage.

🏳️‍⚧️ We protect our joy.

🔥 We are the resistance.

We rise together!!!
